This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Japanese Zelkova (Zelkova serrata) with Canyon Live Oak (Quercus chrysolepis) cap. From Japan, Zelkovia, or Keyaki, is a desirable landscaping tree and also a great Bonsai candidate due to it's attractive shape. The shimmering wood is also very attractive with nice dark veins on a light backgroud. It is considered the wood of choice for Taiko drums. I love the earthy percussion and nothing satisfies the ear, the eye and the heart rhythm more than a Taiko performance! The centered live oak adds visual interest with it's radial rays.
