This is a petite mushroom box made out of French Boxwood (Buxus sempervirens) with Canyon Live Oak (Quercus chrysolepis) cap. Boxwood is a hard and heavy wood from a slow growing, small shrub, a very popular ornamental plant in gardens, particularly for topiary and hedges. It is the densest wood that the entire European continent has to offer. The wood is often used to make woodwind instrument, chess pieces, engraving and as ivory substitute due to its extremely fine grain. Also my favorite wood for turning, specially for intricate item like this tiny mushroom stalk. The centered oak with it's radial ray pattern and the natural bark ring serves perfectly as a mushroom cap. This one is the smallest one of its kind.
This threaded box can be used to hold small valuables...The screw-on cap ensured that your content is secured; also serves as a unique gift for nature lovers
