This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Boxwood (Buxus sempervirens) with Verawood (Bulnesia sarmientoi) cap. Boxwood is a hard and heavy wood from a slow growing, small shrub. It is the hardest wood from the entire European continent. The wood is often used to make chess piece due to its extremely fine grain. It is also a favorite wood for detail carving. I always feel nervous everytime I cut boxwood, listening to my bandsaw making all these excessive groaning and moaning. The bright yellow color does not change significantly with exposure. Verawood, on the other hand, quickly turn green . I really like this fresh looking acorn from the two super hard woods.
A nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this nature inspired box extra special and ensures that your content is secured. Good for small daily pills, keepsake... Not recommended for long term storage of emergency pill, since I don't know how air/water tight the closure is. Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift.
