This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Pacific Dogwood Burl (Cornus nuttallii) with Partridgewood cap. This is the Dogwood that blooms along the Merced River (and many other spots) in Yosemite National Park. Native to the Pacific Northwest, this mass bloomer is the classic symbol of Spring. The pinkish burly wood is rarely seen and as pretty as the flowers! The cap is another rare wood with grain that resemble shimmering partridge's feathers, thus the name. Come to think of it, I am not sure why Dogwood got it's name. There is nothing remotely doggy about the tree...
A nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this nature inspired box extra special and ensures that your content is secured, good for jewelry, keepsake... Through the ages, people has given out acorns as symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift.
