This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Russian Olive Burl (Elaeagnus angustifolia) with Brown Oak (Quercus robur) cap. Russian Olive is not a true olive species, just visually similar to the olive tree. It is used for the table setting of Nowrus, the traditional Persian spring celebration, and is a timber that bears the name of Russia. The burly wood is warm dark olive yellow with beautiful swirls and eyes. A symbol of strength and endurance, oak is the national tree of many Western countries. This particular species is native to Europe, where the best specimen often comes from the Spessart Forest in Germany and several areas in Eastern Europe. The warm brown tone of this wood pairs up nicely with the Russian Olive.
A nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this nature inspired box extra special and ensures that your content is secured, good for jewelry, keepsake... Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift.
