LV-2000 Redwood Burl & Black Walnut Burl Wooden Box, Threaded Urn, Jewelry Box, Treenware

$ 295.00

This is a unique threaded box made out of California Redwood Burl (Sequoia sempervivens) with Black Walnut Burl (Juglans negra) cap. Redwood is the state tree of California and can grow to giant proportion. A stroll in the towering Redwood forest is a memorable experience. The species holds the world record for the tallest tree and can live for more than a thousand year, as its Latin name mean "Forever Living". The timber is widely used for constructions due to it's nice, warm tone and resistance to insect and decay, but the burly wood (which also holds the world record for the largest burl) is something truely special. I saw a redwood burl vessel for the first time in a State Park gift shop. I was dying to have and to hold it, but I was a poor student back then... Now I can make my own redwood burl items, and still fall in love with them, everytime! Capped with another burl grown in California, walnut is an important commercial species for it's nut and also the popular dark wood. This vessel is a beauty!

A lidded box is nice, but a threaded box is something special. The screw-on cap ensures that your content is secured. It is a beautiful decorative item as well as functional.

Dimension (largest diameter x height): 3-7/8" x 5-1/2"
