This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Bocote (Cordia elaeagnoides) with Kou (Cordia subcordata) cap. From Mexico to South America, Bocote is a dramatic wood with striking dark streaks agains a yellowish background. The figuring can be very bold and wild. It is one of my favorite wood for the unusual color and pattern. Hawaiian Kou is a counsin of Bocote, with the same scientific last name. It is a rare timber with dark brown color and dark streaks. They do look great together!
A nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this nature inspired box extra special and ensures that your content is secured, good for jewelry, keepsake... Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift.
