This is a small acorn shaped box made out of Verawood (Bulnesia sarmientoi) with Partridgewood (Andira inermis) cap. The unusual, green tinted Verawood is a relative of Lignum Vitae, this timber is extremely hard and heavy. The greenish color need ambient light exposure to develop, and will deepen with time. If you want your acorn to stay green, don't store it in the dark. This is one of a very few woods that gets greener as it ages! Partridgewood got its name from the grain pattern that resembles partridge feather. It is another pretty dark brown timber with very tight grain. This color combination mimics the color of the still-green acorns.
