This is a small acorn shaped box made out of Camatillo (Dalbergia congestiflora) with Cocuswood (Brya ebenus) cap. This acorn combines two top timbers that have become increasingly difficult to obtain. Camatillo is a beautiful Central American rosewood with a purple tint and dark streaks. This rare rosewood species holds its purple color better than any other rosewood. It has very tight grain and takes a great polish. Cocuswood is another rare species found in Cuba, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. Also called Green, Brown, or West Indian Ebony. The heartwood is brownish-yellow to dark brown often with a greenish tinge. It is usually beautifully veined with darker streaks. The wood is hard and heavy. It is well known for its use in woodwinds such as flutes, piccolos, and bagpipes because of its fine and uniform grain, its beautiful coloring and its resonance.
