This is a pretty acorn shaped box made out of Briar Burl (Erica arborea) with Betelnut (Areca catechu) cap.  Briar burl is the choice material for tobacco pipes.  It is the root ball of the white heath bush mainly found in the Mediterranean.  The burl is very dense and has a nice orange color.  It is rare due to it's small size and over harvesting. This acorn is capped with the uniquely patterned Betel Nut, an important palm nut in SE Asia and Oceania cultures.  It is chewed with betel leaves and lime for the mild stimulant effect (this concoction produces a bright red juice when chewed and is definitely an acquired taste.  I know. I tried it before).  It is often offered as a sign of hospitality and friendship.  The nut is also associated with legends and is a symbol for marital love.

A nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this nature inspired box extra special and ensures that your content is secured. Good for small daily pills, keepsake... Not recommended for long term storage of emergency pill, since I don't know how air/water tight the closure is. Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck.
