This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Bur Oak (Quercus macrocarpa) with Japanese Pagoda Tree (Sophora japonica) cap. Bur oak is an interesting domestic species with the largest acorn in North America. The wood is very nice with prominent, shimmering rays. I have been making acorns from a plethora of woods, it's high time to make one out of oak itself, preferably from an oak species with jumbo nuts, so here it is. Capped with a rare timer with it's own interesting color and pattern, this is a fun acorn!
