This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Mun Ebony (Diopsyros mun) with Black Palm (Borassus flabellifer) cap. This acorn combines two dark woods from SE Asia. Two of my favorite. Mun is a precious timber by all account. Palm, on the other hand, is in the grass family, so it's not even a "wood", but I found it so attractive as acorn cap for the unique pattern. This palm tends to split, splinter and not an easy subject to thread, but once finished, I found it to be a very stable wood. This is one dark and handsome acorn. A nice box for your valuables.
