This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Morrocan Thuya Burl (Tetraclinis articulata) with Black Walnut (Juglans negra) cap. Thuya is a conifer from the cedar family, and is exclusively native to Morocco. Thuya wood was highly praised by Romans and Greeks, and its oils were used in religious rituals and ceremonies. Thuya trees reach maturity over many decades, only a few develops underground root burl. The burl has a deeper color, a more concentrated aroma, and a fascinating grain. Today these burls are very scarce and hard to locate, extract, and transport. This acorn was made from a top grade burl with very dense figure. The inner wall was not sealed so you can enjoy the aroma every time you open this nut. Black Walnut needs no introduction. It is a valuable and useful timber from the temperate region. This dark cap adds contrast and its own pattern to the mix. A nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this nature inspired box extra special and ensures that your content is secured, good for jewelry, keepsake... Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift.
