This is a mini acorn box made out of Verawood (Bulnesia sarmientoi) with Brown Ebony (Caesalpina paraguariensis) cap. From Argentina, Verawood is also known as Argentine Lignum Vitae. Not a true Lignum, but behaves like it: very hard, heavy, turns green with time and takes a beautiful polish. I actually prefer Vera over the true Lignum for it's brighter green color and irridescence stripes. Also from Argentina, Brown Ebony features dark chocolate brown tones with a pleasing grain pattern. It is not the true ebony species but has characteristics similar to Black ebony: very stable, will not change color over time and polishes very nicely. I particularly like the beautiful color of this wood and the subtle but nice grain pattern. I love this two Argentine wannabes for what they really are, beautiful timbers with their own uniqueness to compliment what real Ebony and Lignum Vitae do not offer. I also love this combination of woods. The brown against the green, such earthy colors!
