This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Wych Elm Burl (Ulmus glabra) with Betelnut (Areca catechu) cap. This elm is the only native elm from Brittain. A large deciduous tree, the elm can grown into impressive speciment, like the one in Filoli garden. It's love at first sign when I set my eyes on the twisted branches and fluorescence green canopy of this incredible tree at Filoli. Wish i have one like that in my yard! For now, this incredible piece of burl will do. I got this blank straight from Brittian, via a wood exchange operation with one of my wood collector friend. What a beauty!
