This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Argentine Osage Orange (Maclura tinctoria) & Sheoak (Allocasuarina fraseriana) cap.  Related to the American Osage Orange, this Argentine version is denser, with darker yellow color.  It is sometimes called Fustic, or dyer’s mulberry, a source of a yellow dye, primarily known for coloring khaki fabric for U.S. military apparel during World War I.  The color will deepen into a golden brown with time.  For this bright but plain nut, I decided to cap it off with lace Sheoak.  Lacey figure is rare in Sheoak and here is a very good sample.  The orange color cap works well with the yellow nut and the pattern adds visual interest.  I like this one!
