This is a nice acorn shaped box made out of Mun Ebony (Diospyros mun) with Burmese Blackwood (Dalbergia cultrata) cap.  Mun Ebony is my favorite ebony species for several reasons: the wood is very fine and easy to work with, the patterns can be very striking and a hint of green tint make this ebony special, the wood is very stable, dimensionally. Burmese Blackwood is actually a true rosewood.  Ebony and rosewood spell luxury.  This satin smooth, heavy, dark nut is truly a luxurious thing.
