This is a unusual acorn shaped box made out of Leopardwood (Roupala brasiliensis) with Scarlet Oak (Quercus coccinea) cap.  Leopardwood comes from South American jungles. It has interesting lacey pattern with large, shimmering dots.  Native to the central and eastern United States, scarlet oak gets it's name from the autumn color of the leaves.  The woood is less common than the other oak species of commerse.  Oaks have the ray fleck pattern similar to leopardwood and this species also has a reddish tint.
