This is a very pretty apple shaped box made out of Aromatic Cedar (Juniperus virgiania) with Mun Ebony (Diospyros mun) stem. Among many of other so called cedars, this species is another cedar-wannabe. It is actually a juniper, but the common name, or misnomer, stuck. The brownish-red heartwood is fragrant, very light and very rot resistance. Moths do not like the aroma from this timber, so it is often used as lining for clothes chests and closets. Yes, this is the cedar that you are familiar with. This wood is light but very fine grain, with nice pinkish color streaks just perfect for another sweet smelling apple! Apple is one of the hardest thing for me to make. I want the grain to match and the bisecting line as tight as possible. A lot of time spent and many half-apple casualties ensue as the result...
