This is a larger acorn shaped box made out of Burmese Sal Burl (Shorea leprosula) with Black Palm (Borassus flabellifer) cap. This is another red acorn from a rarely seen burl. Also known as Light Red Meranti, Sal is an Asian species that grows from Peninsular Thailand throughout the Malay Peninsula, Sumatera, Bangka and Borneo. It timber is valued for it's nice color and high durability. The burl is very pretty with wild grain and a nice shimmer. Capped with the eye-catching Black Palm for added visual interest.
