This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Black & White Ebony (Diospyros embryopteris) with Mun Ebony (Diospyros mun) cap. Black & White Ebony is a wood like no other: the contrast is striking, the wild pattern is even more extravagant. This holder is turned cross-grain to show off this beautiful timber. Like any other ebony, this wood is extremely hard, heavy and very fine grain, just what I love in a timber. The cap is fashioned out of another ebony species from the same region. Mun is also an ebony capable of very wild pattern, but is more subtle. This is a truly handsome acorn!
