LV-3036 Lignum Sapwood & Hala Acorn Box, Pill Holder, Compartment Pendant-SCREW CAP

LV-3036 Lignum Sapwood & Hala Acorn Box, Pill Holder, Compartment Pendant-SCREW CAP

$ 65.00

This is a small acorn shaped box made out of Lignum Vitae Sapwood (Guiacum officinale) with Hala (Pandanus chamissonis) cap.  Well known as the hardest and heaviest commercial wood, Lignum Vitae is my material of choice for tiny acorns like this one.  This wood is tough enough that in the old day people made ball bearings for ships out of it.  Here, I use the sapwood portion to obtain this bright yellow color, streaked with the characteristic green tint.  The cap is another interesting timber.  Similar to coconut palm, but richer in color, Hala is one of the more common seashore plants in the Hawaiian islands. Fruits are edible and the long leaves contain valuable fiber used for weaving. The pattern of the cap adds an exotic touch to this bright acorn.  I like this one!

A nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this nature inspired box extra special and ensures that your content is secured. Good for small daily pills, keepsake... Not recommended for long term storage of emergency pill, since I don't know how air/water tight the closure is. Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift.
