This is a nice acorn shaped box made out of Cocobolo (Dalbergia retusa) with Lignum Vitae (Guiacum officinale) cap. Cocobolo is a true rosewood from Mexico with prominent darker streaking on the nice warm tone wood. It is a very dense wood that polish up nicely. The figure can be extremely extravagant in Cocobolo, add the rich reddish color and we know why this is a very desirable species, so much so that it was recently added to the protected list. Lignum vitae (Guaiacum officinale), one of the world's hardest and most famous woods. The name lignum vitae means "wood of life," owing to the medicinal properties of the heavy, resinous wood. Official National Flower of Jamaica, this timber is now rare. What's more, it can eventually develop a dark green patina, one of a very few woods that just gets greener as it aged!
A nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this nature inspired box extra special and ensures that your content is secured. Good for small daily pills, keepsake... Not recommended for long term storage of emergency pill, since I don't know how air/water tight the closure is. Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift.
