This is a beautiful vase made out of Manzanita burl (Arctostaphylos glandulosa). Manzanita is one of my favorite timber. It is an exceptionally fine grain wood with a deep red color. The burl is full of swirly pattern and interesting void, check, inclusion. What makes this item unique is the decorative "fills". I used a lichen species often found dangling off manzanita branches and embedded it in clear Inlace to create 3D "windows" on the vase. The effect is simply striking. This vessel is large enough to serve as a functional container and pretty enough to beautify your space. I have been holding onto this conversational piece for a while now...
