This is a beautiful pedestal bowl made out of Plum Burl (Prunus domestica). It is the burly wood from garden variety plum. There is a lot of color swirls and confused grain patttern in this piece, a fine visual treat that is not often seen. I like fresh plum, the fruit, that is. Everytime I eat a plum, that short poem by Willian Carlos Williams from college day would start to playing in my head: " I have eaten the plum..." For me, I would just eat the plum, but for a poet, eating a plum could be the cause for such literary consequence. Who would have guess...Anyway, I am glad Mr William ate those plums that day, hence the poem. I am also glad I gave the ugly looking block of plum burl a try that day, hence the bowl.
