This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Burr Oak (Quercus macrocarpa) with Betelnut (Areca catechu) cap. I have to make an acorn out of oak at one point, so here it is. Burr oak is a rare timber since it is not a commercial timber. It has the largest acorn of all the oaks in North America. The ray fleck pattern of burr oak is prominent as seen here. The Betelnut adds an exotic touch to this earthy acorn.
A nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this whimsical box extra special and ensures that your content is secured. Over-tighten the cap just a bit to lock the nut in place, you should feel some resistance with the first 1/8 of a turn when you try to open it. Good for small daily pills, keepsake... Not recommended for long term storage of emergency pill, since I don't know how air/water tight the closure is. Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift.
