This is a very special mushroom shaped box made out of Japanese Pagoda Tree (Sophora japonica) with Persimmon (Diospyros virginiana) stalk.  Surely an oriental mushroom, this saprophyte features two not often seen timbers from useful trees.  The panicles of white flowers makes the Pagoda tree a good ornamental.  It is also has medicinal value and is one of the fifty fundamental herbs in traditional Chinese medicine.  Persimmon is also a nice ornamental tree for it's showy, edible fruit and nice hard wood, the "White Ebony", perfect for a mushroom stalk.
