This is very nice eggplant shape trinket box made out of Camatillo (Dalbergia congestiflora) & Verawood (Bulnesia sarmientoi) cap. Camatillo is a true rosewood species with a beautiful deep purple color and darker streaks. It is one of the rarer timber since the tree never grow very big. The figure on this particular piece is truly beautiful! The wood is extremely fine, polishes up to a hard shine. Verawood is a fine, hard and heavy wood (also known as Argentine Lignum Vitae) with a nice green patina after exposure. The cap of this box was turned and let to "aged" in my workshop for awhile to achieve the green tone. This wood combination is just perfect for an eggplant. This small eggplant is long enough for toothpicks, sewing or darning needles up to 3-1/4" long.
