This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Oxhorn Bucida Burl (Bucida buceras) with Betelnut (Areca catechu) cap. Also known as Florida Black Olive, Gregorywood, Bulletwood...Oxhorn bucida is a common ornamental tree of South Florida and the Keys. The burl, however, is definitely not common, and what a beautiful thing! This is also one of the hardest burl wood I have worked with. The earthy brown Cocuswood cap adds contrast to this acorn.
A nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this nature inspired box extra special and ensures that your content is secured. Good for small daily pills, keepsake... Not recommended for long term storage of emergency pill, since I don't know how air/water tight the closure is. For a permanent seal, apply a thin layer of wood glue to the threads before closing. Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift.
