This is a very special mushroom shaped box made out of Garry Oak (Quercus garryana) cap with Box Elder (Acer negundo) stalk. A few seasonal mushrooms are ready for your enjoyment. These are rare species of mushroom that only available once in a while, since oak branches tend to crack badly when dried, not to mention the knots and twists that rendered them unsuitable for spinning mushrooms. Thanks to the green recycling program in San Jose, I occasionally find a pile of live oak trimming on the curbside, ready to be collected and grind up for compost, I would rescue a few branches and hope for the best. Here it is: a classic white saprophyte, looks good enough to eat! This one is relatively large. One of my art show visitors named this as "Boletus edulis", the most sought after wild mushroom!
This threaded box can be used to hold small valuables...The screw-on cap ensured that your content is secured; also serves as a unique gift for nature lovers.
