This is a unique box made out of Photinia (Photinia x fraseri) and Brown Ebony (Caesalpinia paraguariensis). Photinia is one of my favorite wood for turning, the rarely seen wood is comparable to Boxwood in density, but with a warmer tone. These shrubs never grow very big and is oftem use as hedges around here. My neighbor did a re-landscaping on their yard and some old growth Photinias has to be removed. I was very lucky to have obtained the wood and give it a second life as lustrous turned items. This box came from the base of an old tree, where the wood has developed spectacular color streaks. The warm tone of Brown Ebony adds accent to the box, along with the sparkling but earthy Vermiculite inlays. One of my favorite box!
A nice box for your valuables and memorial keepsakes, this functional item is silky to the touch and pleasing to the eye!
