This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Mexican Camatillo (Dalbergia congestiflora) with Burmese Blackwood (Dalbergia cultrata) cap. This is a smallest acorn box without the metal attachment.  Both woods are true rosewood species from two continents.  Like most rosewoods, they polishes up to a hard shine and display subtle multi-color streaks.
