This is a small acorn box made out of Mun Ebony (Diospyros mun) with Betelnut (Areca catechu) cap. Mun Ebony is my favorite ebony species for several reasons: the wood is very fine and easy to work with, the patterns can be very striking and a hint of green tint make this ebony special, the wood is very stable, dimensionally. What's more, it was the reason why I became a woodturner, starting with a couple of Mun Ebony chopsticks. Betel Nut also hold good memories. My grandma used to chew it with betel leaves and some other additives. I tried the concoction several time, but came to the conclusion that it was not my cup of tea. It has an important role in many SE Asian cultures.
A nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this nature inspired box extra special and ensures that your content is secured. It is ready to dangle off your keychain, bag zipper, belt with the removable lobster claw. Good for small daily pills, keepsake, or anything you want to carry around while on the go...Not recommended for oil/liquid, or long term storage of emergency pill, since I don't know how air/water tight the closure is.
