This is a larger acorn shaped box made out of Cocobolo Rosewood (Dalbergia retusa) with Black Palm (Borassus flabellifer) cap.  The hard and dense Rosewoods are always nice to work with, if you are not allergic to the dusk and oil.  I am one of the lucky few who can work with Cocobolo (knock on wood!). Cocobolo is a true rosewood from Mexico with prominent darker streaking on the nice reddish wood. It is a very dense wood that polish up nicely. The figure can be extremely extravagant in Cocobolo. This species recently made it to the Red List, which means the availability will be decreasing sharply.  Capped with the uniquely patterned black palm for added visual interest.
