This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Masur Birch (Betula alba) with Tamboti (Spirostachys africanus) cap. Birch is the national tree of Finland and Russia. It is also one of the sacred tree of the Druids tradition, representing inception, birth of new life. But this is no ordinary birch, the Masur is a unique figuring in the wood that resemble burl or birdseye in maple. The effect is striking! Tamboti is also known as African Sandalwood.  The aroma is releases when working with this wood but it does not persist very long in finished piece.  The wood, however, is gorgeous with multicolor streaks.
