This is a very special mushroom shaped box made out of Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia) cap with Wormy Spalted Tamarind (Tamarindus indica) stalk.  It's mushroom season here now.  This one is the larger one I managed to grow from my lathe.  It's difficult to find larger oak branch that can be dried with minimal splitting.  I like oak for mushroom cap.  The natural radial rays looks like gills of the mushroom.  The stalk is made from a beautiful wormy, black line spalted Tamarind.  The interesting bug holes and pattern adds character and visual interested.  Such a handsome thing!
