This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Chittun Wood (Cotinus coggygria) with Camatillo (Dalbergia congestiflora) cap.  This is definitely the most colorful domestic timber.  The shimmering color mix is simple awesome! Also know as American Smoketrees, but they are certainly not a fire harzard.  The "smokes" are fluffy panicles of flowers that blooms over the plant.  The wood is very pretty with it's multi-color stripes, and also fluorescence under black light.  This wood is rarely available.  I was lucky to obtain a few pieces from a street tree that was knocked over, probably by a car, near my home.
