This is a very special mushroom shaped box made out of Canyon Live Oak (Quercus chrysolepis) cap & Birdseye Maple (Acer saccharum) stalk. It's mushroom season here now. I hunkered down and make a few of these cuties from dried branches salvaged from tree trimming around my neighborhood. I like oak for mushroom cap. The natural radial rays looks like gills of the mushroom, so don't forget to admire the underside of the mushroom cap. The stalk is made from another domestic timber, hard maple, with a special figure from clusters of swirling grain. This one is loaded with visual interest.
This threaded box can be used to hold small valuables...The screw-on cap ensured that your content is secured; also serves as a unique gift for nature lovers
