This is a pretty slim threaded holder made out of Ponderosa Pine Burl (Pinus ponderosa) with Betelnut (Areca catechu) cap. Ponderosa pine is is the official state tree of Montana. It is a magnificent species that holds the record for the tallest known pine. I was very fortunate to obtain a piece of it's very rare burl. When I hauled the burl out for cutting, I thought that there was definitely a mistake in labeling. Pine can not be this heavy! But when I cut into it, the fresh pine scent filled the whole workshop. Yes, it is pine alright, but guess what? The burly wood is saturated with pine resin! In fact, this wood is so dense that I can thread it directly instead of using a hardwood insert. This holder was made out of a very figured piece of burl.
The crew-on cap makes this holder extra special and ensures that your content is secured. The slim profile fits unobtrusively in a purse or pocket for the people on the go. This holder can be used to hold toothpicks, pill, snuff, sewing needles, cash stash and small valuables...Also serves as a nice gift for someone who seems to have everything.
