An ornamental tree native to Eastern North America, Staghorn Sumac is another wood (beside Lignum Vitae and Verawood) that possess a green color, and more. Staghorn sumac is a source of a natural dye and the wood also fluorest under black light! Looking at a cross-cut log, I can see many shades of green... and yellow... and red...and an interesting mushroom cap! The wood is rather soft and unevenly porous so I had to spend a long time cutting the inner thread, paused to stabilize the wood after a few passes of the thread chaser. But all was worth it. Paired with a bright Yellowheart (Euxylophora paraensis) stalk, what a fun and unique mushroom!
This threaded box can be used to hold small valuables...The screw-on cap ensured that your content is secured; also serves as a unique gift for nature lovers
