This is a very pretty persimmon box made out of Chakte Vega (Caesalpinia platyloba) with Verawood (Bulnesia sarmientoi) cap. Chakte Viga is well known for the lovely burnt orange color that will deepen with age and exposure. The wood is fine grain, lustrous, with a subtle shimmer. Since I am experimenting with making persimmon box, this orange color will be perfect in combination with the greenish Verawood for the calyx. Also known as Fruit of the Gods, persimmon is the symbol of joy in China, and triumph in Japan. Look good enough to eat, this one is the crunchy Fuju variety.
A nice box for your valuables, about the size of a real persimmon. The screw-on cap makes this nature inspired box extra special and ensures that your content is secured, good for jewelry, keepsake... Great as gift for the symbolic meaning of the fruit.
