This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Afzelia (Afzelia xylocarpa) with Betelnut (Areca catechu) cap. A beautiful wood with nice orange color from SE Asia, Afzelia is hard and fine enough to accept threading. It is related to the famed Amboyna burl, but with a lighter tone. The grain is nicely figured and lustrous, like gemstone. The unique betel nut cap adds another level of visual complexity to this already striking acorn.
This is a nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap ensures that your content is secured, good for jewelry, keepsake... Thought the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift for the "hard to give" people on your list!
