This is a very special mushroom shaped pendant box made out of Raffia Palm Nut (Raphia hookeri) cap with Black Palm (Borassus flabellifer) stalk. I like to experiment with palm nuts, specially those with the beautiful pattern. These natural materials are hard and dense, often referred to as vegetable ivory due to the similarity in properties. Only here in my shop, you can find several species of these nuts transform into threaded caps: acorn cap, box cap, and mushroom cap. This mushroom was made from the nut of raffia palm, the one that give the raffia fiber for art and craft.  Black palm exhibits a subtle partern, but is very difficult to thread. I don't deserve the trouble while turning them but they surely deserve each other.  I like this one! So, here it is, a small mushroom with a secret compartment. Good for very small daily pills or small keepsake. The screw-on cap ensures that your content is secured, yet can be easily accessed.
