This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Lignum Vitae (Guiacum officinale) with Betelnut (Areca catechu) cap. Lignum vitae (Guaiacum officinale), one of the world's hardest and most famous woods. The name lignum vitae means "wood of life," owing to the medicinal properties of the heavy, resinous wood. Official National Flower of Jamaica, this timber is now rare. What's more, it can eventually develop a dark green patina, one of a very few woods that just gets greener as it aged! Capped with the uniquely patterned Betel nut for added visual interest. Betel nut is an important palm nut in SE Asia and Oceania cultures. It is chewed with betel leaves and lime for the mild stimulant effect; often offered as a sign of hospitality or friendship. The nut is also associated with legends and is a symbol for marital love.
A nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this nature inspired box extra special and ensures that your content is secured. Good for small daily pills, keepsake... Not recommended for long term storage of emergency pill, since I don't know how air/water tight the closure is. Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift.
