This is a very cute mushroom threaded box made out of African Celtis (Celtis africana) with Raphia Palm Nut (Raphia australis) cap.  African Celtis is a popular ornamental tree in the South and East of Africa.  The wod, however, is not often available.  The tree when fresh cut has a pungent scent, so the wood is also known as White Stinkwood.  The dried wood, however, has no particualr odor.  It is hard, dense with a gray tint and subtle color mix.  The grayish, uniform wood serves well as the stalk for this mushroom.  The Raffia palm holds the record for the largest leaf ever measured (overover 25 m long, not the palm for your backyard!).  The nut has random spots that looks so fun as a mushroom cap.  Despite the cute look, this mushroom is definitely a poisonous species!
