This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Tamboti (Spirostachys africana) with Bocote (Cordia elaeagnoides) cap.  Also known as African Sandalwood, Tamboti is a beautiful, lustrious brown timber, often with figure.  The wood supposed to have a spicy scent that last for awhile, but I did not detect much.  It is oily for sure, which is a joy when sanding: no wood dust, just a pile of clogged sandpaper.  Bocote is also a very fine grain, slightly oily wood.  I like it more and more for the nice golden color and wild dark streaks.  The color combination of this acorn is closest to the natural colors of the real thing.
